The Fossil Under The Stars
In the ancient volcanic mountains of the Isle of Arran rests a large approx. 6 meter long rock formation that resembles the fossilised bones of a long extinct creature nestled over a narrow ridge that stretches up from the saddle up to North Goatfell.
This is an image of the Milky Way Core over the top of ‘the fossil’ with Chir Mhor, Castiel Abhail and ‘Witches Step’ in the background with Glen Rosa down to the left of the Saddle, and Glen Sannox down to the right.
This was taken on a recent trip over to the Isle of Arran where I spent 5 days traveling and exploring this fantastic Island, Arran sits just off the Ayrshire Coast of the west of Scotland Mainland, and has the cherished nickname as ‘Scotland in Miniature’, and it is just that all the charm of Scotland, with it’s southern low lands, northern high lands, stunning beaches and wildlife all bundled into one small island.
A must visit location if you haven’t already.
